Nicole Ari Parker was born in New York City. She is an American actor in stage and films. Her most notable role in the role of Teri an ardent attorney Teri Jospehson in the Showtime TV series Soul Food. After her marriage she became Nikki Kodjoe. Growing up in Baltimore, Maryland, she was always interested in acting. In the Maryland high school contest at the beginning of her training, she was awarded the title for the most outstanding actress. She received her degree in acting from the New York University after working for 'The Washington Ballet Company' as well as on stage. Contractor, born in Mumbai in India she was raised in Nigeria through the age of seven. She had already experienced many different travels and different cultures at a very early age. After attending boarding schools for seven years in London, her family relocated to Toronto Canada where she spent much of her early years as well as her early years of adulthood. Contractor trained in classical ballet in Toronto. Additionally, she excelled academically. In the Etobicoke School of the Arts (a public high school that specializes in arts) she studied dance and theatre. Contractor aged 16 at the time she realized that acting would be her future career. Dance was her passion for almost 10 year. She received a full-scholarship grant to pursue a degree at the University of Toronto after graduating. The university offered her master's degree in theatre as well as a double major in sociology and psychology. Contractor with a degree in sociology, having spent a year in university and auditioned in an open audition for Pericles which was held at the highly acclaimed Stratford Shakespeare Festival, [Ontario Canadain Canada] and was selected for the role. The show she played in 92 performances received acclaim from Canadian critics. She was given the chance to enroll in the Stratford Conservatory. The school allows only eight males and four woman to study the art of classical theater. Contractor was eager to accept. She was scheduled to perform in the following play-season was confirmed and she got the part of Hermia from A Midsummer Night's Dream.
